Five (5) Best Advertisements of 2013

Out of all ads aired, I picked up The Five 5 Best Advertisements of 2013. Though most of the ads are targeted to different audience for different purpose. I choose the list based on three criteria, content, clarity, and whether the message has been passed through the advertisement.

I don't want to rate it top 5 this time, so just posting the five best advertisements of 2013.

1.
Airtel Ad
Itti si khushi itti si hasi.

The content is simple, the song selection from movie Barfi, suits the plot. And most importantly touches the right nerve of the people clicking soft corner of human where every on could relate to it. It also throws a positive side where a impaired girl, can communicate as simple and effective as a normal person do.  And at the same time, the purpose of the ad is to promote the product of Rs.1 a song/day.

2.
ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Bande Ache Hai ICICI Bank
Per Bande Ache Hai.

This advertisement targets the light and sensitive side of male member of the family, who are said to be good at heart and do protect there loved ones in some or other way on daily basis. Its a beautiful directed and content ad, where it could reach to the male audience instantly and connect to it. After a series of things what a family male member do, which are more often not appreciated or ignored are seen in this ad. Ending the advertisement with the Insurance product, can give a sense of feeling to protect and insure there family.

3.
Google Inc.
Google Search: Reunion

For the very first time, Google has aired a new of its kind advertisement highlighting how partition has divided countries, but still friendships find a way. A story of friendship, separation due to partition (India and Pakistan) and reunion is been marvelously executed and presented with very few characters and with a strong emotional content. The highlight of the advertisement is the Back Ground Score (BGM) and a negligible negative is the length of the ad.

4.
Vodafone
Made for first Love

Vodafone has the best advertisement agency/team (mostly Oligvy and Mather) from the past four years with new and creative ads coming up every IPL season right from ZooZoo Ads.
The First Love experience is the content made and targeted the Youth and they nailed it.
5.
Tanishq
Remarriage.

Handling a sensitive subject is same as handling a knife. Its a usually affair to see jewelry for marriage cermony, but for a change Tanishq has targeted a net set of people, who never been identified before or dare to raise the word was Re-Marriage. Beautifully executed, with wonderful BGM ( picked for Ar Rahman's Rockstar soundtrack).

Top 5 Most Over-Hyped Flopped in 2011.

There are many instances where things are claimed to be BEST, but turned to be WORSE than imagined. Here are Top 5 list of products which the company/seller claimed to revolutionize the world with their product but turned to be dud.

Starting the list with,
RIM PLAYBOOK
This was expected to give the sliding fortunes of RIM a fillip.  Instead, it sold far fewer that apple I-pad because it needed to be paired with a blackberry to access most features.  So, If you don’t have a BB, which most people don’t own one, because already have an iphone or android, then your playbook is just a browsing device.  And it had a few thousand apps when the ipad more than a lakh.

MARUTI KIZASHI
When maruti gave out full page ads before the launch of this car, it seemed to be the next blockbuster in waiting.  It was in march, and went downhill from there.  The debacle was perhaps a sign of worse times ahead. Soon its manesar plant was crippled by union strikes. kizashi is now clocking the lowest sales, it at all, in its category.

COLOR
A Real-Time Social Picture Sharing Service Application, with an investment of $41million poured, hardly anybody used it.

THE BEAVER

The movie was supposed to make millions, ultimately dint worked out.
GOOGLE PLUS
With 30million users and counting, it must be doing well.  Not so, when compared with facebook’s 800 million.  Google+ was built to take on Facebook, but its growth seems to have slowed.  For that reason, it’s a flop because it was so over hyped.  But there is still hope yet.

Top 5 Trending Websites in 2012

There are hundreds of website created daily offering a wide variety of service, but how many of them are having a promising future is the real question? Listed down the top 5 websites which are offering some different products and services and growing very rapidly and expected to become very popular website in 2012.

Druva.com: If you know what Dropbox is, then you’ll have no trouble understanding what Druva is.  Just like Dropbox created online file sharing and syncing that ‘just works’, Druva does that to backing up corporate laptops.  Its products perform some nifty data reduplication behind the scenes within a company to ensure that only one copy of every file is backed up, regardless of how many different laptops it resides in.  By doing this, it claims to save over 90% of unnecessary bandwidth and storage use.  The 4-year-old company already has over 750 customer across the world and is growing rapidly.

This 2 year old business acts as a purely b2b online exchange for used vehicles.  Businesses use the site to auction their used, inspected and certified vehicles to hundreds of dealers and buyers instead of just a handful they were used to earlier.  Started by Vinay Sanghi, the erstwhile head of Mahindra First Choice, India’s largest used car dealer, Motorexchange aims to nearly double its sales to 1lakh cars per year in 2012.

While everybody talks about Flipkart or Amazon, 2 yr old letsbuy has been doing rip-roaring business.. By focusing on the high value(low margin) electronics category, letsbuy has quietly emerged as one of the top three e-commerce players in the country currently based on revenue.  2012 will see It launching its own delivery team, increasing focus on higher value white goods and on becoming the go-to place for gadgets and stuff.

Arguably the most comprehensive listing of restaurants across India today, zomato claims to cover nearly 20K restaurants across 10 cities currently.  It not only offers reviews but also menu listings, and shortly, the ability to book tables and meals directly without human intervention.  It claims to have around 1.5 million monthly visitors to its website over 2lakh users of its various mobile apps.  2012 will see it expanding into events and ticketing as well.

One of the best sings that ecommerce is here to stays in India, zovi retails its own range of apparel and accessories purely through its own website.  It has no third party brands and no physical stores.  The savings it makes from being purely online van then be passed on to consumers, while sourcing its own products allow it to respond to consumer trends and preference faster.  Zovi already claims to be doing 700-800 orders per day.

This is one of my favorite and awesome composition from Amit Trivedi who has the mettle to try a very different tunes, genre, and score an hit. This song explains one of the character's(Rani Mukherjee) nature in the movie and the wording perfectly suit with a foot tapping tune.

#4
Song Title: Te Amo

Music Director: Rhythm, Dhol, Bass popularly known as RDB

One more excellent composition from RDB who scored a very good hits with their previous track like 'Om Mangalam' from Kambhakt Ishq. The lyrics played an important role in becoming a hit because of its punjabi words.  This song has got for more than three million views but couldnt attract the down south people may be because of being a small budget movie. Though the #1 and #2 almost at same place, but since I got to put this in the second number.

#1
