Indias first Robotic Cancer Surgery at AIIMS




The very First time in the India the Department of Urology at All
India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), Delhi, carried an surgery with the robot assistance.

This operation was done to an 50 years old women suffering from cancer of urethra and urinary bladder which was headed by Dr. PN Dogra, Head and Professor, Department of Urology at AIIMS.

This surgery requires an high-tech surgical skills and this can be used to drive, maximise the use of Robots so that benefit can be reaped by the maximum number of patients.

The surgery is named as "Anterior Pelvic Exenteration" which inlvolves in removal of 7 parts of body, that are urinary bladder, Fallopian tubes, Uterus, Ovaries, Urethra Anterior vaginal wall, and Pelviclymph nodes.

This robotic surgical technology can be used on the patients suffering from various urological diseases. Even training programme in robotic surgery are conducted in Department of urology.
