Jessica Lall: A Murder Case Verdict after 11 years

The Indian judicial is in such a weak condition that, a case which happened to be in the public proves it. The verdict has been announced after an long period of about 11 years in the Murder case of Jessica Lall, a Model. This shows that how difficult it is to prove justice in the country.

The incident took placed in front of hundreds of people, includes the so called politicians and Police authorities, but still the case was hanging in the court for the so called period claiming many twist and turns in the case. ??

The murderer, Manu sharma (alias Siddharth Vashisht) son of an Politician
Venod Sharma shot Jessica Lall who was tending at bar said to be on 30 April 1999 at around 2am and demanded a drink, when she refused to give it since the bar section was already closed, where she was found to be dead on spot and fled away from the place and surrendered himself after getting an anticipatory bail and started denying that he is innocent.
Thanks to the media which brought in the limelight to the Delhi High Court and on February 2006, under the judgment of RS Sodhi acquits Sharma. But this was reversed in December 2006 later Sharma approached the Supreme court.

But after an numerous hearings by 3levels of judiciary, the case has been solved by awarding an Life sentence to Manu Sharma on April 14th 2010, where Ramani, and her daughter, Malini were credited who were the witnesses in the Jessica murder.

While passing judgment P. Sathasivam(The Bench head) said, “The appeal is dismissed and crime has been proved without any doubt,”
Judge(Retired) RS Sodhi said "I am happy that my judgment has found favor with the Supreme Court",

Ram Jetmalani(Lawyer) said, Media was acting in an ‘unjust’ way in
portraying his client as guilty and that the whole case has become a trial by the media.

Numerous question arises here. Is this an example what happens when an Middle class people takes on an Rich Class Politician as opponent.?
Is this the strength of Middle class p
eople so limited in spite of justice on their side?

The state of trial courts is so Pathetic.

Lets hope this as an landmark achievement in the way of Justice and helps to solve the other cases to move quickly and punish the culprits.
